FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes, we do offer free estimates. The Springfield Fence Company is proud to inform you that we are one of the fence companies that offer free estimates for fence projects of any type and extent. We have a convenient and hassle-free estimation process which we offer at no cost. Some considerations in our estimation include the latest prices of materials, equipment, labor, and the other expenses that may be necessary. While the estimate is rarely equal to the final billing statement at the end of the project, it will still give a good overview of how the project will go about.

How soon can you install my fence?

Here at the Springfield Fence Company, we duly aim to make sure that the fences you ordered can be installed within the shortest possible time. As a worn of caution, it would be good to note that a fence ordered today cannot be immediately installed as early as the following day. You can expect that the project can be started within the timeframe of two to four weeks. But this can be extended a little by two to three more weeks if you are scheduling a bigger project which require more extensive planning and production. Therefore, it can take a lot longer.

How long will my fence installation take?

The fence installation itself takes place in the span of about more or less seven days on the average. Not all these days within the one-week period would be used for fence installation activities. Some of the days are intentionally left out in between because we would need to allot some time to let the materials settle and cure before we can proceed with the succeeding steps of the fence installation process. We assure you that every project is carefully scheduled so that there would be no significant delays. In case of rescheduling, we will always inform you ahead of time.

Will you obtain a fence permit for my project?

The Springfield Fence Company is a licensed fence contractor. This means that we have been successfully approved to operate under conditions regulated by our local authorities. In relation with this, we are also required to submit permits for every fence project that we will undertake. Sometimes, more than one permit may be required. Securing proper permits before starting a project is necessary for us so that any problems, especially legal ones can be avoided. However, this is something that we cannot do alone. The owner of the property is required to supply us with the needed documents, papers, and signatures.

What types of fencing materials do you install?

The Springfield Fence Company offers fences from a wide selection of materials. This will include wood, metal, chain link, vinyl, SimTek, steel, aluminum, and brick. We want to make sure that you have choices most especially because there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to fences for different and even the same types of properties. A lot of these materials are available in many other colors and designs. Some of these can also be customized according to your specific preferences. The Springfield Fence Company assures you that every material we offer comes only from our trusted suppliers.

Are There Legal Restrictions on My Fence?

We do recommend you to be prepared just in case there are legal restrictions on your fence. This because some restrictions can limit the styles, colors, and dimensions that your fence can have. The exact legal restrictions on fences will vary depending on where you live or where exactly your site is. Some areas may impose more strict restrictions while others would only have minimal guidelines. You may check which restrictions are in place in your locality to better plan the fence installation project. The Springfield Fence Company assures you that you can still have a suitable fence despite the limitations.

Do I Need to Consult My Neighbors?

In the experience of the Springfield Fence Company, it is unusual to have regulations that would require you to talk with your neighbor about a fence project that you are planning to have. However, despite it being not required per se, we deem that it is still highly advised that you consult with your neighbors or at least inform them that you will have a fence job in the near future. This can help keep them safe, and this can also help them anticipate the commotion in your area. As part of respect and common courtesy, we recommend you to consult with your neighbors.

How Deep Should My Fence Posts Be?

The expert team of the Springfield Fence Company states that the depth of the fence posts should always be relative to how tall the fence is from the ground up. This means that if you are going to have a taller fence, it would also require a deeper fence post. This is to ensure that the post can uphold support the fence. This will help prevent any tilting or other abnormalities in position. The fence post depth is pegged at around half to a third of the height of the fences. Anything less than this may render the fence unstable.

Should the Fence Touch the Ground?

It is never recommended for a fence to touch the ground. This is something that our expert crew actively and strongly campaigns against. Many of our clients try to ask us to have the fence in direct contact with the ground. However, we cannot allow this since it will make the fence materials very prone to damage. The closest that we can set the fence is at two inches away from the ground. For safety reasons, we set the upper limit of the fence elevation to five inches. This can adequately protect the fence from moisture damage while still maximizing security.

Does the Weather Affect the Installation?

Yes, there is chance that the weather may affect the fence installation activities. The prevailing weather condition is something that is beyond the control of the Springfield Fence Company or anybody else for that matter. Even if our team and staff carefully plan every step of the fence installation process, we cannot completely anticipate the impact of any weather event. Therefore, there may instances when the installation activities are interrupted because proceeding could mean more harm than benefit. In situations like these, the manager on site would call for a temporary halt of the project. Resumption is immediate when conditions are more stable.

What Material Should I Use for My Fence?

The Springfield Fence Company can provide you with all the types of fence materials you can imagine. However, your final choice of what material to use will still be dependent on your circumstances, needs, and preferences. There will be a lot to consider. We can help you familiarize with the pros and cons of each type of fence to help you narrow down your considerations. We can also give you estimates and the price ranges of the different materials which is especially important if budget is your primary consideration. You can call our customer service at 217-262-9381 if you need more information.

How Tall Should My Fence Be?

There is no set specification for the fence heights that can be installed in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. However, there may be some legal restrictions in some places which can limit the height of the fences in the area. Across many situations, there are generally three common levels of fence heights. This is not an absolute ruling but was only based on what is usually being used. The three levels are three feet, six feet, and eight feet. The six feet level is the most common one for many settings since it is tall enough but not excessively so.

How Long Will the Fence Last?

Depending on the material you chose and how well you carry out the maintenance processes, your fences can last anywhere from fifteen to twenty years. Please take this with a grain of salt since many other things can still influence the true lifespan of your fence. For instance, some materials are intrinsically and fundamentally more durable than others. The basis of this is that the substance itself from which the fence was made is simply tougher than others. Fences that require considerable heavy maintenance measures would last long if these actions are executed correctly and precisely. Wood is an example for this.
